The Chargers and the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to play tonight at 8:20 ET on NBC. If you are attending the game, when you go past the gates, you will be given a pink towel in honor of breast cancer awareness month. The coaches will be wearing pink, the players will be wearing pink gloves, and or shoes, and the bottom part of the field goal will have a sign for breast cancer awareness. The Steelers are coming off a 2 game losing streak, and they hope to break that tonight.

Penguins @ Islanders Recap

For the Islanders, it was NHL rookie John Tavares first NHL game. The opening goal was from Penguins captain Sidney Crosby 8:50 into the hockey game. That was Sid’s 399th point of his career. Then Mark Streit scored a powerplay goal at 12:40, Tavares got his first NHL point on that play with an assist. John Tavares scored his first NHL goal, 7:09 of the second period.”This looks like another really good player … a really special player with talented skills,” Pens coach Dan Bylsma said of Tavares. The score was 2-1 going into the 3rd period. Mark Eaton had scored to tie the game 2-2, but shortly after that goal, Trent Hunter scored for the Islanders to regain the lead they had. It wasn’t looking good for the pens but Ruslan Fedotenko’s shot had deflected off New York Islander defenceman Bruno Gervais, which tied the game at 3, and was assisted by Sidney Crosby that earned him his 400th point, which made him the 6th fastest player to do.

These two teams had to go into overtime to find the winner of this game, but that 5 minute OT period was not enough to determine the winner. It went into a shoot out, with Islander Jeff Tambellini opening it up with a shot that hit the crossbar. Kris Letang was up for the Penguins and scored. Rookie John Tavares was up next for the Islanders. His shot had missed the net, so if Sidney Crosby scores it would be game over. Sidney did so with a five hole goal, “It was a great challenge out there,” Tavares said of going up against Crosby. “You can see why he’s one of the best players in the world, if not the best. He’s a great player and he’s a great leader, as well.” Final score. 4-3

The stanley cup banner has been put up with all the other banners up in mellon arena at todays game . The ceremony started out with a story of the road they had to take to get to the cup. Fans went crazy when the video shifted focus to the playoffs and an exciting opening-round defeat of the rival Philadelphia Flyers, which of course drew the expected boos from Penguins fans. The loudest cheers went to Billy Guerin winning Game 3 by jamming in an overtime winner, and of course Max Talbot hushing Flyers fans after a fight with Daniel Carcillo. They showed there playoff games and momentum changers. The Penguins are playing the New York Rangers today and there playing the Islanders tommorow at 6:30pm, be sure to tune in to FSN.
Then the curtain dropped and the stanley cup was sitting on the table. They also showed off the rings they have earlier in the week.
